The Future of Roatan

Roatan's future is a topic of conversation you hear at every bar, restaurant and even on the beach. This is mainly due to the ever increasing number of people investing in the roatan both personally and on a corporate basis.

In the last six months contracts were signed by the major cruise ship operators to increase the number of visitors from around 600 people a day to in excess of 2500 people a day. This alone will create a vast number of jobs and opportunities for both local and foreign residents, especially those wishing to move to roatan and start a business.

Another major boost for the Roatan is the creation of the new Pete Dye designed international golf course and hotel complex called Pristine Bay Resort. This project is expected to create a further two thousand (2000) jobs in both the construction and hotel and tourism sectors. Unlike many developments the owners are pushing ahead with the 18 hole golf course and hotel before they start the sale of lots and condos. This will ensure that when sales do start there is an immediate attraction for buyers in that they already have the resort facilities in place.

This is not the only hotel development that is underway on Roatan. With 3 others under way there will be in excess of 1000 4 and 5 star hotel rooms available by the year 2010. With this the airlines have also agreed that they will begin daily direct flights from the USA to compliment the existing direct flights we already have from Miami, Houston, Atlanta, New York, Toronto Milan and La Ceiba.

These and many more developments will thrive with the help of the ZOLITUR enabling developers and investors to import anything that they require for their business at a flat rate of 4%. This along with the tax agreement recently introduced on capital gains Roatan is set to become THE investment hot spot for the next 5-10 years.
